arvinLet’s talk about gumption! Arvin Manangan grew up in the Philippines where kilts are not all that common, and opportunity was almost as elusive. In 2008 Arvin became a member of Window Works Inc., a Calgary company in need of temporary foreign workers to help fill the demand for their professional residential and commercial window cleaning business. Arvin is a tremendous success story from the Temporary Foreign Workers Program. He literally climbed the ladder to success.  Seizing that opportunity came at a great cost for Arvin, as he had to leave his family behind to come to Canada, a step towards providing a better life for his family back home.  In 2012 Window Works Inc. joined forces with Men In Kilts (Canada’s largest Window Cleaning Franchise).  When Arvin first heard that he’d be donning a kilt as part of the change, he said to himself, “That’s awesome! I’ve sure got the legs for it!”

playing_soccer Men In Kilts CEO Chris Carrier says, “Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW’s) had become a big part of the Canadian economy and our personal experience regardless of the countries they come from have been nothing short of a huge blessing.  Dedication, hard work, kindness, initiative & the willingness to do what it takes to serve customers and our community are just some of the few qualities that stand out for Arvin.  Men In Kilts is always on the hunt for spectacular leaders who are Awesome, Dedicated, and FUN!

arvin1Although Arvin’s story is unique to him, it highlights his commitment and accomplishments within the last 8 years with Men In Kilts.  In February of this year, Arvin’s long journey brought him to the exciting conclusion of becoming a Permanent Resident of Canada.  As a leader in our Calgary franchise, Arvin’s blood, sweat and tears have paid off and has made the grand opening of our Red Deer location an exciting reality! What began as a temporary work permit for Arvin has grown into an amazing opportunity and will lead to job creation in Red Deer. No one ever said it was going to be easy, but Arvin continues to be up for the challenges ahead of him and looks forward to being able to provide jobs and opportunities for those willing to role up their sleeves while proudly representing Men In Kilts.

Arvin says, “Red Deer is the third most populated city in Alberta and is the midpoint between Calgary & Edmonton, where we already have very successful franchises located.  I see this as an exciting and natural progression for the Alberta market and I’m looking forward to meeting EVERYONE in Red Deer – personally!

Men In Kilts is unique not only because we wear kilts, but also because we offer professional quality service across the board.  Meeting the needs of both residential and commercial clients, we provide interior and exterior maintenance services including window cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning and snow removal.  With Men In Kilts you get the representation of a name brand with the value and friendliness of a small business.  Although the brand draws attention, it’s the quality of the service experience we provide that develops lifelong relationships with our customers.

About Men In Kilts

Nicholas Brand started Men In Kilts in 2002 with a squeegee and a hand-sewn kilt made by his wife. The first franchise was opened in 2012 in Victoria and has grown to 21 locations across Canada and the U.S.  People often give them a try because of the kilts, but they keep coming back because of the outstanding service. There’s a lot more behind Men In Kilts services than just kilts! The company continues its successful expansion, with plans to be in every major market across North America.
